Duke Energy Indiana Watch is powered by Hoosiers who are tired of paying Duke Energy’s high rates while the utility makes more and more money on our backs. They recently asked to increase residential rates by nearly $300 each year. State regulators lowered that to an average of $180 per year, but who can afford that in times like these?
We’re already one of the most expensive states in the nation for energy costs, and Duke originally wanted us to pay almost $300 more each year. The state’s energy watchdog said that not only should Duke’s nearly $400 million rate hike be denied, but the utility should actually cut rates by $130 million. Even though Indiana regulators approved a lower rate increase, you’ll still wind up paying an average of $15 more per month—$180 per year—unless an appeal is granted.
Our goal is to hold Duke accountable for the secretive way they do business, and we want them to change their plans to include more affordable, cleaner energy sources. We need as many Hoosiers as possible to speak up about the harm these increases will cause. The power rests in your hands; regulators need to hear from you today!
